La Corte Tarantino Zinfandel

From the La Corte winery in Puglia region of Italy, this Tarantino IGT Zinfandel (100%) is intense. Known locally as Primitivo, the grapes come from 80-year-old vines that have benefited from the region's deep red earth. The first fermentation wasin stainless steel tanks and the malolactic fermentation was in barrique. The result is a wine with tastes of plums, tobacco, leather and, most notably, cocoa. The international German wine publication, Wein Gourmet, rated this wine in their January 2001 edition. They awarded it 2nd place amongst all zins within the Puglia region and commented that it was, ". . . a wine with a strong future," The bottle and label are as striking as the product.
