La Pineta Sangiovese di Toscana

The Rendola Estate has been historically important in the Arezzo area of Chianti, belonging once to the Baron di Ricasoli, with records going back to the 1200's. 10 years ago some of the 40 acres of vineyards were replanted with selected clones of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Chardonnay. The winery was modernized in 1996 and a cellar for small-barrel aging was introduced. The "La Pineta" is a single-vineyard that is planted 100% to new-clone Sangiovese. The grapes are cutivated for reduced yields and the wine is aged in small oak barriques (1/3 new). This is a gorgeous, mouthfilling wine with all the exotic attraction of a premium Sangiovese.
