Lauriana - Napa Semillon

California's Napa Valley is known mostly for its expensive red wines that sit on the valley floor soaking up the Northern California sunshine. However, where there are valleys there has to be hills and mountains and some great wines are planted along the Napa hillsides and mountainsides. Napa mountain fruit is especially prized because the vineyards sit on 'poor' soils which force the vines to dig deep for precious nutrients. Mix in the Napa cooling cycle and you will find excellent growing conditions for the slow ripening Semillon which allows this grape to develope the maximum varietal character for a delicate white wine.
